Other possible applications of 2 mm hollow balls are in the field of high technology.

Rapid reaction valves, which are required to open and close very quickly, are equipped with hollow balls. The very lightweight and therefore fast-moving balls meet these demands with a breathtaking speed.

The compact high speed valve has originally been designed for the aerospace industry and has since been further developed by a series of tests. Here, the movements of the ball are controlled by using magnetic fields.  This allows for switching times in the millisecond range. The valves work under high pressure while consuming only a modest amount of energy.
Their possible applications are, for instance, in the metering technology industry, where chemicals, glues, and other adhesives, or oil are being used – also in small amounts.
They find a useful applications also in the fields of car manufacturing, agriculture or power engineering.
